Welwyn Wine Society is a long established group of members who meet regularly to taste and appreciate wine. The Society is managed by a committee of members on a non-profit making basis.
We hold 8 meetings per year, 5 of which are run by external speakers such as specialist wine educators and wine trade professionals. The other 3 events are run by those members who are knowledgeable about wine and may hold wine qualifications themselves. We also hold an Annual Wine Fair and Dinner in the run up to Christmas.
Meetings are held at The Welwyn Civic Centre. The Wine Fair is held at Woolmer Green Village Hall. Both venues offer excellent accessibility.
Our aim is to provide interesting, informative and quality wine tastings in an informal, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. If you are at all interested in wine and are keen to find out more then The Welwyn Wine Society could be for you!
Our annual subscription is currently only £10.00. Attendance at our meetings starts at £14.00 for members and £16.50 for guests. Special events with external speakers may be more. There is no expectation on anyone to buy the wine on taste. Typically, we will sample 8 wines, on a theme, during which the speaker will tell us about them such as their provenance, viticulture, viniculture, aroma and flavour profiles. Members usually bring their own snacks to enjoy with the wine.
